Russian Citizenship Interview Questions


Russia is the largest country in the world and the ninth most populous nation in the world. The first citizenship act was passed in Russia in 1991 which was later replaced by a new act in 2002 by President Putin. This act stated that one can acquire citizenship by birth, by naturalization, by restoration of citizenship, by following parents’ citizenship. To get the Russian citizenship one will have to present all his legal documents along with residential and identity proof. He will also have to undergo an interview which will test his knowledge and interests about Russia as a country. One can expect following questions in that interview:

  • Please tell us your complete name?
  • Where do you live in Russia?
  • How long have you been staying in Russia?
  • Were you born in Russia or is any of your parents are Russians?
  • Are you married?
  • How many kids do you have?
  • Have you been covered under the census while your stay in Russia?
  • Can you speak and understand Russian language?
  • Do you carry a credit card, please present before us the statement of last four months?
  • Where are you working in Russia?
  • Give us the complete information about your employer?
  • Have you presented all your legal documents like residential proof, passport, other identity proof, marriage certificate, employer referral certificates etc?
  • How many people in your family are earning on their own?
  • Have you been the resident of Russia for last 5 years?
  • Do you have any criminal background or have you ever been arrested by the Police?
  • Have you applied for the termination of other citizenship (if you have any?)
