Behavioral Interview Questions


Behavioral interviews are gaining popularity by the day because many organizations now believe that they can gauge your future behavior by your past reactions in similar situations.  The best way to prepare for these questions is learning about the job description for the post you are applying for and see how your own personality would match it.

The first step towards preparing for behavioral interview questions is to understand and analyze yourself.  It is best to be honest and sincere in your answers.  Behavioral interview questions are generally open ended questions, where the candidates must quote specific instances to substantiate their answers.

In case you have to admit to past mistakes, it is best to stress on how you have learnt to overcome these shortcomings and are constantly trying to improve upon them.  Any employer looks for that kind of positive attitude and ability to improve.

Many researchers advise following the STAR approach while answering behavioral questions.  It involves talking about the situation or task, your actionand the result or outcome.  Such an approach helps you to answer the questions in a methodical manner.

While answering these questions stick to the point and avoid rambling.  If any question is unclear, it is best to ask the interviewers to repeat it.
